TEENANGER ROMANCE FOR RENT

Toronto post-punk outfit Teenanger have continued to impress over the course of 2020, and are now gearing up for the release of their sixth album, Good Time, on October 2nd. ‘Romance For Rent’ is a unique track that opens with a funky, percussion-only intro, before bursting outwards into a festival of nostalgic, jangling guitars and anthemic, layered vocals. The video that accompanies the track is filled with well-used humour and a more serious message: “[the] video takes the idea of loneliness and buying love and puts it in a blender with internet culture. It follows a lonely man who, rather than learning how to connect with others, connects with a meme pillow, and finds some short-lived solace with it; he is trying to solve his loneliness with an internet search.” After a decade together, the band are still at the top of their game. -Dan Peeke
